We begin the adventure by picking you up directly at your hotel in Puerto Ayora to transfer to the Puerto Ayora dock.
We will sail for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to enjoy the view and the gentle breeze of the Galapagos Sea towards the island of Santa Fé
The disembarkation will begin, which will be humid, so we will have to jump on the impressive white sand beach. Immediately we will be greeted by several sea lions, inviting us to start a walk in search of the species that live here.
The island of Santa Fe has one of the largest colonies of sea lions on the islands. These marine mammals are known for being playful and curious.
Along the way you will be able to encounter several species, including the Galapagos falcon or hawk, which represents the majesty and uniqueness of the island ecosystem. With its imposing wingspan and sharp gaze, it dominated the skies and the rocky hills of the island. Visitors have the unique opportunity to witness this magnificent raptor in its natural habitat which adds an exciting and memorable element to the experience.
And of course its main attraction, the Santa Fe iguana will be seen on this tour. Unlike other land iguanas, this one was able to adapt to the arid conditions of the island. They have a lighter color and a larger size to maximize their ability to retain water in their dry environment. Additionally, these iguanas have developed special nasal glands that allow them to expel excess salt, which helps them survive in an environment where fresh water is scarce. These adaptations make this iguana a unique species to study in the context of evolution.
We will return to Barrington Bay and board the boat’s zodiacs to ride over the cliffs of La Encañada in search of a good spot to do the snorkeling activity.
On its cliffs it is very common to find the emblematic blue-footed boobies and masked piqueors.
Next, we will jump into the water to swim alongside colorful fish, sea lions and sea turtles that abound in this spectacular snorkeling site.
Here the sea lions will demonstrate their best movements and pirouettes underwater that there is no way to follow in their footsteps!
After a fascinating snorkel we will return on board where the chef on board will delight you with an exquisite lunch while we enjoy a beautiful landscape around us. At approximately 2:00 p.m. we will sail back to Puerto Ayora and arrive at approximately 4:00 p.m.
