BAY TOUR

Our bay tour is an exciting short journey that combines nature, adventure, and wildlife observation. We will visit 4 different places like the Love Channel , where you can enjoy the stunning scenery and spot birds on the cliffs. The Tintoreras Channel , a quiet pool where reef sharks rest, Playa de los Perros , a rocky beach where marine iguanas abound, Franklin Bay, where you can snorkel and swim alongside sea turtles and tropical fish and Las Grietas, an impressive volcanic rock canyon that you have eroded over time, creating a unique landscape. You can swim in the crystal-clear waters and observe marine life, making this place a perfect ending to the tour.

Departure time:   09:00 am. / 2:00 pm
From:   Puerto Ayora Pier.
Activities:   50% Hiking and 50% Snorkeling.
Duration:   4 hours.
Boat capacity:   16 people.

• Bilingual naturalist guide (English-Spanish).

We begin the adventure by picking you up directly at your hotel in Puerto Ayora to transfer you to the Galapagos Blue Sky offices to take the necessary equipment for the activity. Next we will walk to the main pier to board the boat that will take us to the excursion

We will have a short navigation of approximately 15 minutes walking along the cliffs of Santa Cruz Island until we reach Franklin Bay. Along the cliffs you can see sea lions and blue-footed boobies resting from the boat.

We will enter Franklin Bay and border a natural formation called Canal del Amor, here you can observe blue-footed boobies, pelicans and sea turtles in its waters on its cliffs.

We will disembark at the Punta Estrada pier, where the tour of land activities will begin.

On one side of the trail we will find some stairs that will lead us to the Canal of Love, here the naturalist guide will give a talk about this formation and the reason why it was called that. You will then have time to take a photo to remember!

Next we will follow the path until we reach the dog beach, we will walk around this beach to observe the emblematic marine iguanas. In this area you will find the largest ones on Santa Cruz Island.

Upon returning from the trail we will have a stop at the Tintoreras channel, which is a small slope where if we have good visibility you can see whitetip sharks resting on the bottom.

Next we will return to the boat to look for a suitable place where you can do snorkeling in the Bay, here you will have the opportunity to swim with tropical fish, sea turtles and the possibility of observing sea lions.

We will go to Las Grietas which is the last stop of the tour, on the trail you will pass through a salt lagoon where you will be able to observe the Galapagos ducks and the beautiful landscapes and viewpoints overlooking Franklin Bay that it offers.

Swimming in this canyon is an unforgettable experience since you can observe its imposing cliffs alongside colorful fish that swim in these crystalline waters or simply take photos in this imposing natural setting. We will return to the dock to take the boat that will take us back to Puerto Ayora at approximately 1:00 p.m. / 6:00 p.m.
