NOTE: Galapagos Blue Sky to offer this activity we have strategic partners who hold the necessary permits for this tour. Although you will get equipment and instructions from our office the meeting point can be different which may vary depending on the starting point: either the Itabaca Channel or Puerto Ayora. You will be notified two days prior to the activity.
Meeting point is at our office, where you will grab all snorkeling gear before heading to the port.
We’ll head to “El Velero” pier, where depending on the tide level we will either board the boat directly from here or take an aqua-taxi that will bring us to the boat.
After a marine-army inspection we will start engines and leave Puerto Ayora town to head to our first stop.
Note: Depending on National Park Regulations the order of activities can be either starting at Pinzon island or at Daphne island (if this is the case we will first take a private bus that will bring us to Itabaca cannal and we will board the boat from there this will be notify 2 days prior departure).
We will sail to Pinzon island, depending on National Park permissions and tide levels we will visit either Dumb bay or Penguin bay.
We will anchor at Pinzon island and we will do the first snorkeling activity of the journey. Snorkeling time in this place will be around 35 minutes.
Following the activity the guide will direct us to a small bay that is formed on the island, this area is shallow, here the conditions can be between 1 meter to 3 meters deep. Here is home of various animals including sea-turtles, sea lions, marine iguanas and tropical fishes.
But the main activity here is to swim next to white tipped reef sharks. Here you can see in abundance this animal depending on season.
We will return back to the boat.
Our staff will provide you with towels and snacks to recharge energies.
We will start engines once more to head towards our next visit. Based in National park permissions or tide levels this site can be either Palmitas beach, Eden bay or Borrero bay.
We will reach to the beach that national park allows to visit the day of the tour. Here we will spend some time on our own to relax or to swim.
We will return back onboard and some drinks and light snacks will be served while we navigate towards our last visit which is Daphne island.
If sea conditions allows it and participants decided it we will do some fishing demonstration (please note that this is not a fishing tour, so the demonstration will be short).
We will reach Daphne Mayor island a small island that looks like a volcano.
We will do a short circumnavigation around the island. The island due it close distance to North Seymour island we can observe some birds in it cliffs.
We will start the snorkel, this is in open sea, the snorkel will be along the wall of the island.
Species you may see are sea turtles, sea lions, fishes and lot of star fishes in the wall of the island.
Depeding on season you will have high chances to spot giant mantarays and sharks.
We’ll return on board after a wonderful session of snorkel.
Our crew will welcome you back with a delicious lunch onboard while the beauty landscape is around.
After lunch we will sail towards Itabaca Cannal which is located in the north of Santa Cruz. From here we will take a private transportation that will bring us back at Puerto Ayora. We will be back in town around 15:30.
